Why Traditional Nail Salons Are a Barrier (And How Imrie Mobile Nails Brings the Spa to You)
Living with diabetes, dementia, Alzheimer’s, or mobility issues shouldn’t mean neglecting foot care. Imrie Mobile Nails comes to your door—safe, sterile, and compassionate.

When you are caring for a loved one with a chronic condition—or struggling with one yourself—something as simple as getting a pedicure can feel impossible.
For a person with dementia or Alzheimer’s, a bright, loud nail salon can be terrifying. For someone with diabetes, a small cut from an unsterile tool can lead to a hospital stay. For those with disabilities or severe mobility issues, simply getting out of the car is a victory; climbing into a salon pedicure chair is out of the question.
This is why I started Imrie Mobile Nails.
I don’t have a storefront. I don’t have bright fluorescent lights or a waiting room. Instead, I bring the salon to you—to your living room, your bedside, or your nursing facility.
The Hidden Dangers of "Just Trying to Make It Work"
I speak with families every week who have tried to force a square peg into a round hole. They try to take Mom to the local nail salon, but:
For Alzheimer’s/Dementia: The new environment triggers anxiety, wandering, or aggression. The loud noise is overstimulating.
For Diabetes: A nail technician who doesn’t understand neuropathy accidentally cuts the skin. Because the patient can’t feel the cut, it goes unnoticed and becomes infected.
For Mobility Issues: The pedicure chairs are too high. The footbaths are too deep. The hallways are too narrow for a walker or wheelchair.
The result? They stop going. Nails become overgrown. Toenails thicken and dig into the skin. Foot health declines, leading to falls or infections.
How Imrie Mobile Nails Solves This
I am a mobile nail technician trained specifically in geriatric and special needs care. Here is what happens when you book with me:
1. No transportation. No stress.
I come to your home, hospice, or care facility. You stay in your own wheelchair, recliner, or bed. I adapt my tools to your body, not the other way around.
2. Medical-grade sanitation.
For my diabetic and immunocompromised clients, I use disposable liners, hospital-grade disinfectants, and I never cut cuticles (a major infection risk for diabetics). I look for pressure points and redness so I can alert you or your nurse.
3. Gentle redirection for memory loss.
If a client with Alzheimer’s doesn’t remember why I am there, that’s okay. I don’t argue. I simply massage lotion into their hands or hum a familiar tune. Sometimes we get a full service done; sometimes we just hold hands. Both are wins.
3 Signs You Need Imrie Mobile Nails Today
For Caregivers: Ask yourself these three questions.
Is your loved one afraid of leaving the house? If the anxiety of a car ride or waiting room outweighs the benefit, call me.
Do you check their feet weekly? If you are afraid to cut their nails (especially with diabetes or blood thinners), please stop. Let a trained mobile tech do it.
Have you noticed a smell or discoloration? Fungus and bacteria love warm, enclosed shoes. If they can’t get to a podiatrist easily, a mobile nail tech is the first line of defense.
Stop Fighting the Car. Start Healing at Home.
You have enough on your plate. You don’t need to add "driving across town for a pedicure that ends in tears" to the list.
Imrie Mobile Nails serves [Your City/Region]. I bring dignity, safety, and a little bit of pampering directly to those who need it most.
